Club night ·
Your Social Elo
The rating from the games you play across a real board has a proper name now: Social Elo. Same number, same rules, and it comes with you to every club you play at.

The short version
- Your rating from games against people is called Social Elo now
- One Social Elo at every club on Castle Gambit, not one per club
- Same number, same five-game wait, same choice of who sees it
- Your puzzle rating keeps its own name, and stays yours alone
For a while we called it “your rating”, which is a bit like naming the dog “Dog”. Some of you called it your club rating, which made it sound like it only counted at one club. It never did: play at your home club on Tuesday and at a visiting night across town on Thursday, and both games land in the same number.
Same number, better name
So it’s Social Elo now. Elo, because it’s the word everyone at a chess club already knows. Social, because it comes only from games against people, across a real board, wherever you sit down.
Nothing else moved
Your number didn’t change, and neither did the rules. Your first five rated games are still tally marks, a new number still wears a question mark while it settles, and you still choose who sees it in Settings. It still never shows in the lobby, on the club TV or next to anyone’s name when you’re paired.
Your puzzle rating keeps its name and stays yours alone. Puzzles are for practice; Social Elo is for people. What Social Elo is.
