Club night ·

A quiet word, and a little distance.

Report something from a profile, a Castle, a gambit or the lobby, in a minute. Block someone and you’ll never be paired with them at a club night. They aren’t told.

Club night among the library shelves: a table tent with a 2 between two boards, a chess clock and a blue pen on a scoresheet.

The short version

  • Report a profile, a photo or a name, a Castle, a gambit, an event or an organization
  • Something off at a club night? Report it from the lobby or right after the game
  • Conduct at a night goes to that Castle’s organizers; the rest comes to us
  • The person you report never learns who sent it
  • Block someone: never paired at club nights, and you drop out of each other’s pages and lists
  • Organizers get a Reports page for conduct at their nights

Most club nights go the way club nights should: a few good games, one terrible blunder, someone forgets their coat. Now and then one doesn’t. For those, there’s a quiet “Report” in the places you’d look for it.

Report it

On someone’s profile, a Castle’s page, a gambit or an organization’s page, tap Report, pick what’s wrong and, if you like, say what happened. At a club night it’s under Who’s here, and on the card after your game. How someone behaved at a night goes to that Castle’s organizers, who were in the room and can do something about it; everything else, and anything about the people running the night, comes to us. Whoever you report never learns who sent it. Playing as a guest tonight? Find the organizer: they’re quicker than any form.

Or keep your distance

Block someone from their profile and the two of you are never paired at a club night again. You won’t see each other’s pages or the gambits you each post, and you drop out of each other’s lists, like who’s going to a gambit. They aren’t told; at worst, they wait a little longer for a game. Nobody leaves a Castle, you can still report them, and you can undo your block any time in Settings. Tournaments still pair everyone by the rules, so if you’d rather not play someone there, tell the TD.

For organizers

Your panel has a Reports page under People: what was reported at your nights, by whom, with their note. Close each one as dealt with or as needing nothing, with a note for your fellow organizers. A report about you or one of your helpers comes to us instead, so you’re never asked to judge your own. Blocks stay between the two people: organizers never see them. The privacy page has the details.
