Club night ·

Stepped out for coffee? Tap I’m back.

Tournament nights on your phone, with fewer dead ends: one tap to come back in, a casual game when you got there after entries closed, and a Withdraw that asks before it gives your place away.

The short version

  • Marked away? “I’m back” puts you back in the room, no scanning again
  • Got there after entries closed? Find me a game, with the others who aren’t playing
  • “Not playing? Withdraw” asks first, and says what happens to your place
  • Call the TD stays put on your board, and tells you when they’re on the way
  • A game left unreported last night shows up on your next lobby, so one tap settles it

Tournament nights have a rhythm: scan in, play, wait for the round, play again. Somewhere in there people step out for coffee, arrive late, change their minds, or forget to report a game the night before. The phone in your pocket should take all of that in its stride. Now it does a little better.

I’m back

If the TD marks you away, or the night is closed and opened again, your phone says so and gives you one button: I’m back. Tap it and you’re in the room again, and back in the pairings if your tournament still has you. It’s the same as scanning tonight’s code, without hunting for the poster.

Late, but not left out

On a night that’s just the tournament, someone who walks in after the entries close used to get a polite, empty screen. Now it says entries are closed and offers Find me a game: you’re paired with whoever else isn’t playing, on the boards the tournament isn’t using.

Fewer surprises

“Not playing? Withdraw” now asks first, because your place may go to the next person waiting. Call the TD stays where your thumb left it and says when they’re on the way. And a game you left unreported last night (or earlier today) turns up on your lobby, slip and all, so one tap settles it and you’re free to play.
