For organizers ·
Regulars get first pick. Newcomers still get a seat.
Organizers can now give a Castle’s regulars a head start on a gambit with limited spots. At least half the seats wait for everyone else, and the gambit says exactly when it opens.

The short version
- Tick “Give regulars first pick” when you post a gambit from a Castle you run
- Regulars are members with your Castle’s Regular stamp: three club nights there
- A day’s head start, or until a time you pick within two days, and never past the start
- Never a lock: at least half the seats are held for everyone, and the gambit says how many
Twelve seats for the Thursday blitz, and the people who set up the boards every week find them gone to strangers by lunchtime. Or the other way round: the same eight faces take every seat, and the person who saw your flyer never gets one. Neither is how a club grows.
A head start, not a guest list
When you post a gambit from a Castle you run, with room for four or more, tick “Give regulars first pick”. For the next day, or until a time you pick within two days, only members with your Castle’s Regular stamp can accept it. That stamp comes from three club nights at your Castle, so nobody applies for it and nobody hands it out.
Never a lock
While the head start runs, regulars can take at most half the seats. The rest wait for everyone, and the gambit says so: “Opens to everyone Tuesday at 6 pm, with 6 seats held for everyone.” Anyone else who opens it is told when to come back. Changed your mind? Untick it on the gambit’s edit page and it opens to everyone at once.
What it costs
Nothing. It’s a thank-you for showing up, not a thing to buy, and nobody spends crowns on it. One more thing, for the regulars’ sake: on a gambit like this, your Castle’s members can see who’s going, as always, listed alphabetically; nobody outside your Castle sees names on it. More in the FAQ.
