Pull down, watch it draw

On your home screen, pulling down to refresh now draws our tower as your finger goes. And while a 3D board loads, a pen runs round it.

A bright club hall laid out for a night of chess: numbered table tents on long tables, sets ready on their starting squares, a jar of wildflowers in front, two players at the back.

The short version

  • Pull down from the top of a page and a pen draws the tower as you pull
  • Draw the whole tower and let go: the page reloads while the pen runs round it
  • The 3D puzzle and opening boards show the same pen while they load
  • Asked your phone for less motion? The tower is simply there, already drawn

Our new tower is drawn in one continuous line, and it turns out that’s fun to watch. So the spinning rook has handed over to a pen.

If you’ve added Castle Gambit to your home screen, pull down from the top of any page: the pen draws the tower as your finger goes. Draw the whole thing, let go, and the page reloads while the pen runs laps of the tower. Let go early and it tucks itself away again.

The 3D boards in Puzzles and the opening trainer use the same pen while they load. The rook isn’t out of a job: it’s still your coach in the opening trainer.
