Forty openings, and a level to show for it.
The opening trainer has twenty openings for White and twenty for Black now, a search to find yours, and XP for the work you put in. Levels only go up, and there’s no streak to keep alive.

The opening trainer has a much bigger shelf. The Ruy Lopez and the Scotch, the English and the Catalan, the King’s Indian from either side of the board, the Najdorf and the Dragon, the French, the Scandinavian, the Nimzo-Indian and the Slav are all on it now, forty in all, each a handful of lines deep with a note from the Rook on every move you make.
White’s openings sit on the top shelf and Black’s underneath: swipe along either one, or just type what you’re after. A name works (“najdorf”, “spanish”), so do the moves (“e4 c5”) and an ECO code. Tap a first move (1.e4, 1.d4, 1.Nf3 or 1.c4) or pick how much theory you fancy, and “Your openings” shows just the ones you’ve started.
Every run earns XP now: a new line, a clean review, a line’s fifth mark, your first run of the day, any three days in a week, a warm-up before club night, and a whole opening in your book. Levels only go up. Miss a week and you lose nothing: there’s no streak to break, and nobody else sees your level.
“Your stats” at the top of the shelf keeps it together: your level, what’s in your book and, when you’re signed in, your social rating and your Club card’s crowns. Your book, and the XP that comes with it, stays in this browser for now.
