Puzzles are under Learn now, and they’re free: positions from real games, picked for club players and pitched at the right difficulty for you. Each one tells you how hard it is, from Easy to Fiendish. Find the move. No account needed.
XP for the work
Solve one clean and it’s worth XP, more for the tough ones. Take a hint and it’s worth half. Miss one and it comes back the next day for another look, and solving it then still earns a little. Your puzzle XP joins the opening trainer’s, so there’s one Learn level for all your study.
Collections, and a warm-up
Twenty-six collections, from forks, pins and back-rank mates to rook endings: solve every puzzle in one and there’s a badge for your trouble. Members get a club-night warm-up too: accept a gambit or check in at your Castle, and five puzzles are waiting, a touch easier than usual. Play on the flat board, or turn on the 3D one if your device is up to it.
Yours alone
No timer: take as long as you’d take on Board 4. No streak, no leaderboard, and nobody sees any of it but you. Signed out, your puzzles stay in this browser. Signed in, they’re saved to your account, and the ones you tried before signing in come along only if you say so. “What’s kept”, on the puzzles page, lists every bit of it, and Clear my puzzles wipes it whenever you like.
