What’s new

For organizers ·

Tell the whole room at once

Organizers can now put one line on the club TV, like where the pizza is or when round 2 starts. It turns up along the bottom of the screen with everything else, and goes when the night does.

A bright club hall laid out for a night of chess: numbered table tents on long tables, sets ready on their starting squares, a jar of wildflowers in front, two players at the back.

The short version

  • Type a note on Tonight and the club TV shows it, one line, in the strip along the bottom
  • Up to 80 characters, no links: the room reads it from across the hall
  • Change it or take it down any time; it goes by itself when the night closes

Every club night has an announcement nobody hears. Pizza’s in the back room. Round 2 starts at 8:30. The car in the loading bay needs to move. You can shout it over forty clocks, or you can put it on the TV.

On Tonight, under your code, there’s now A note on the TV. Write one line, check the preview, and tap Put it on the TV. It joins the line along the bottom of the screen, right after who’s waiting, and comes round with the rest. A longer note turns over in two or three parts, at the same size as everything else, so the back row can still read it.

Short, plain and tonight only

A note is one line of up to 80 characters, and no links: nobody is typing a web address off a TV from across the room. Everyone in the room sees it, on the TV only, never on phones or your Castle’s page. It stays until you take it down or the night closes, and the next night starts with a clean slate. Owners and organizers can write one; your Castle’s activity log notes who changed it, not what it said.
