Endgame basics

When the board empties, the king walks out, and one pawn can decide everything. You'll be able to: use your king and push a passed pawn.

Arrow keys move between squares; up is towards your opponent. Enter or Space picks a piece up and puts it down. Escape puts it back.

With most pieces gone, the king stops hiding and starts fighting. On its first square it has only a few places to go. Walk it towards the middle.

Step the king up off its first rank.
