Before every move

Three questions before you touch a piece: any checks, any captures, any threats? And what did their last move do? You'll be able to: check for checks, captures and threats, and ask what their last move did.

Arrow keys move between squares; up is towards your opponent. Enter or Space picks a piece up and puts it down. Escape puts it back.

Most lost pieces are lost to one move nobody looked at. So, before every move, ask: what did their last move do? Here their rook just slid to e8, onto a piece of yours that nothing guards.

Tap the piece of yours the rook now attacks.
