Results and ratings ·

Two copies must match.

Report a result in one tap. When both players agree, it's stamped and it counts. When they don't, the organizer sorts it out. Nobody has to find a pencil.

The short version

  • One tap: I won, Draw or I lost
  • Matching reports are stamped and count
  • Mismatches go to the organizer
  • A social Elo that stays out of the lobby

Club players have kept score on carbon copies forever: one for you, one for your opponent, and if they don’t match, somebody’s having a word with the organizer. It’s a beautiful system. We kept it and took out the carbon paper.

How it works

  1. You both report. Tap I won, Draw or I lost. Tapped the wrong one? You've got a few seconds to undo it.

  2. Matching copies confirm. When your answers agree, the result is stamped and it counts.

  3. Mismatches go to the organizer. Remember it differently? You both play on; the organizer settles it.

  4. Forgot to tap? A lone report stands the next day.

A rating for the room you actually play in

Every confirmed game counts toward your social Elo: a rating built only from games across a real board, at real clubs. It’s yours to look at, and it stays out of the way everywhere else. No ratings in the lobby, on the club TV or on the pairing screen. Nobody’s sizing you up before you sit down.

2 more games to your first rating.

Your first five games show up as tally marks. After the fifth you get a number, with a question mark beside it while it settles in. And if a result was ever wrong, fixing it works out every rating again as if it had been right the first time.
